Paul McCartney & Friends: The PETA Concert For Party Animals

Prince's Trust in 1986

This concert was endorsed by Paul McCartney to the benefit of PETA (People Of The Ethical Treatment Of Animals), association against bad treatment of animals.

It was part of a gala which was given on September 18, 1999, featuring many guests like Jamie Lee Curtis, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, Margaret Cho, Andy Dick, Fred Willard, Mo Gaffney, Elvira, Gillian Anderson, Bob Costas, Anne Heche, Alicia Silverstone, Steven Seagal, Stella McCartney, Pamela Anderson, and many others (see performers below...).

That night, an emotive video tribute to Linda McCartney was also screened, accompanied by the moving song Angel, performed by Sarah McLachlan on piano. Linda McCartney was a great activist in the movement for animal protection.

Paul McCartney also presented the first Linda McCartney Memorial Award, which is dedicated to the fight for animal rights, and whose first recipient was the actress Pamela Anderson Lee.

The 70-minutes video features some interviews, awards and sketches that happened during the party.
